Snaptrip Terms of Service
Last updated: 23 June 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Snaptrip mobile app (iOS and Android), the Snaptrip website, and any related services (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated by Mateusz Twardy, Poland (“Snaptrip”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
By creating an account, submitting a photo, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
For privacy practices, see the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in jurisdictions where that is the minimum age for digital consent under the GDPR) to use the Service. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this requirement.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
2. Accounts
You can play the daily challenge and practice rounds anonymously. Some features (friend matches, photo submissions, leaderboard attribution) require an account.
When you create an account:
- Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
- Keep your password confidential. If you suspect unauthorised access, change your password and contact us at mateusz@dwgroup.pl.
- One account per person. Do not create accounts for the purpose of evading bans, manipulating leaderboards, or impersonating others.
You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen in the app (“Danger Zone” → Delete account). Deletion is described in Section 7 of the Privacy Policy.
3. The game
Snaptrip is a photo geo-guessing game. Each day you receive a set of photos from somewhere in the world and try to place a pin as close to the real location as possible. Scores are calculated by distance and contribute to a global leaderboard.
We may change the game format, scoring formula, daily set composition, or feature set at any time. We will try to communicate material changes in-app, but we are not obligated to maintain any particular feature or format indefinitely.
4. User-submitted photos
You can submit photos to be added to the public game catalog. The following rules apply.
4.1 Your rights and your warranties
You retain ownership of the photos you submit. When you submit a photo, you confirm that:
- You are the photographer or you have explicit permission from the copyright holder to upload and publish the photo on Snaptrip.
- The photo does not violate any law and does not infringe anyone’s intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
- Identifiable individuals appearing in the photo, where their inclusion is the focus rather than incidental, have given you permission for the photo to be publicly distributed.
- The metadata you provide (place name, license, credit, tags, optional description) is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
These warranties are recorded with your submission and form part of these Terms.
4.2 Licence you grant to Snaptrip
By submitting a photo, you grant Snaptrip a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, perpetual licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, transcode, distribute, publicly display, and otherwise use the photo and its metadata for the purpose of operating, promoting, and improving the Service. This licence includes the right to display the photo within the game, in friend matches, on social media used to promote Snaptrip, and in marketing materials.
If you withdraw your photo from the catalog (by emailing us at mateusz@dwgroup.pl), we will remove it from the active game within a reasonable time. The licence above survives only to the extent necessary to (a) keep historical match results consistent and (b) retain back-ups for the period described in our Privacy Policy.
You are credited as the submitter where indicated, but you cannot demand a specific credit format beyond what the Service supports.
4.3 Prohibited content
Do not submit photos that:
- Contain or focus on identifiable minors.
- Contain nudity, sexual content, or sexual references.
- Depict gratuitous violence, gore, hate symbols, or harassment of any group.
- Promote or facilitate illegal activity.
- Were taken in places where photography is legally restricted (e.g. military installations, certain government facilities) without lawful authority.
- Contain personal contact information, license plates, or other PII of identifiable third parties.
- Have AI-generated, composited, or significantly fabricated locations — the game depends on photos of real places.
- Were scraped, downloaded, or otherwise sourced from someone else without permission.
4.4 Moderation
All photo submissions are reviewed before they appear in the game. We may accept, reject, edit metadata, or remove any submission at our sole discretion, including after it has been published. Reasons can include policy violations, copyright concerns, low quality, duplication, or general suitability for the game.
If your photo is removed in error, contact us at mateusz@dwgroup.pl.
4.5 Copyright reports
If you believe a photo in the catalog infringes your copyright, file a report at /report-copyright. We process reports as described in our Privacy Policy and may remove the photo while we investigate.
5. Acceptable use
Do not, and do not attempt to:
- Use the Service to harass, threaten, defame, or harm others.
- Use automated means (scrapers, bots, headless browsers) to play the game, submit guesses, vote, or extract content, except where we have explicitly allowed it.
- Reverse-engineer the scoring algorithm in a way intended to fabricate scores.
- Tamper with, decompile, or circumvent any technical protection in the Service.
- Probe, scan, or stress-test the Service or its infrastructure without prior written consent.
- Resell or commercialise the Service, the photo catalog, or game data without our written consent.
- Upload malware, links to malware, or content that could damage other users’ devices.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, without notice where the violation is serious.
6. Snaptrip’s intellectual property
The Service — including the name “Snaptrip”, the logo, the user interface, the source code, the game design, the database structure, and the curated photo catalog — is the property of Snaptrip or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Map tiles and base map data come from third-party providers (notably OpenStreetMap contributors, Google Maps, and Apple Maps) under their respective licences; you must comply with those licences when you interact with the maps.
These Terms do not grant you any rights to Snaptrip’s trademarks, branding, or proprietary materials beyond the right to use the Service as intended.
7. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers to function (e.g. Supabase for database and auth, Sentry for crash reporting, MapLibre and tile providers for maps, Apple App Store and Google Play for distribution). Your interactions with those providers may be governed by their own terms. We do not control them and are not responsible for their availability or for changes they make to their services.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if:
- You materially breach these Terms.
- You submit content that violates Section 4.3 or that we are required to remove.
- We are legally required to do so.
- We discontinue the Service or a feature you were using.
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from within the app. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (warranties you made about submitted content, licences granted to us in Section 4.2, intellectual-property terms, disclaimers and limitations of liability, governing law) will survive.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
- Defects will be corrected.
- The Service or the servers that make it available are free of viruses or other harmful components.
- Locations shown in the game are accurate down to the metre — coordinates come from submitters and may contain errors.
Nothing in this section excludes any warranty that cannot be excluded under applicable law (notably, mandatory consumer-protection rights under EU law).
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Snaptrip, its operator, or its affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, whether based on contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms shall not exceed EUR 50 or the amount you have paid us in the preceding twelve months, whichever is greater. The Service is free; this cap reflects that.
Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for breach of mandatory statutory rights of consumers.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Snaptrip, its operator, and its affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Photos or other content you submit.
- Your breach of these Terms.
- Your violation of any law or third-party right.
We will notify you promptly of any such claim and cooperate in its defence.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Poland, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Where you are a consumer with habitual residence in the EU/EEA or UK, you also benefit from mandatory protections of the law of your country, which take precedence over the choice above where they conflict.
Disputes will be brought exclusively before the competent courts of Poland, except where mandatory consumer-protection rules require otherwise. EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, notify users in-app or by email. Continued use of the Service after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to a change, your remedy is to stop using the Service and delete your account.
14. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement — these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Snaptrip about the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
- Severability — if any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- No waiver — our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment — you may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our consent. We may assign ours in connection with a transfer of the Service.
- Language — these Terms are provided in English. Translations are for convenience; if a translated version conflicts with the English version, the English version controls.
